In this experiment, you will investigate an electrical circuit.

You have been provided with a wooden strip with a wire attached.

(a)

Measure and record the length LL of the wire between the nails on the wooden strip, as shown in Fig. 1.1.

You have also been provided with a wire labelled A with crocodile clips at its ends.

● Set up the circuit shown in Fig. 1.2.

● F, G, H and J are crocodile clips.

The distance between one of the nails and H is dd, as shown in Fig. 1.2. Attach H to the wire on the wooden strip so that dd is approximately 20 cm20\text{ cm}.

● Close the switch.

● Record the value of dd and the voltmeter readings V1V_1 and V2V_2.

● Open the switch.

Increase dd by placing H at different positions on the wire and record V1V_1 and V2V_2.
Repeat until you have six sets of readings of dd, V1V_1 and V2V_2. Include your values from (b).
