A student investigates a ball bouncing on a bench.

(a)

The student drops the ball from a height HH of 100 cm100\text{ cm} above the bench, as shown in Fig. 1.1a.
He measures the height hh of the ball at the top of the first bounce. The motion of the ball is shown in Fig. 1.1a, b and c.

(i)

State how the student can check that the metre rule is vertical.

State and explain which part of the ball the student should use when measuring hh.

Theory shows that ee is constant.

Using two points from the graph, calculate two values of ee.
Comment on whether ee is constant for the student’s results.
